Tristan Ferland Milewski is an award-winning writer and director of documentary features, documentaries, and documentary series. His work strongly revolves around the topics of social justice, diversity and the intersectionality of different forms of discrimination.

Currently, you can watch his critically acclaimed feature documentary „HASS GEGEN QUEER“ (Doclights, WDR/RBB/ARTE) and his documentary series „A GLAMOROUS TAKEOVER“ (Doclights, ARD Kultur/NDR) in the ARD media library.

His worldwide success feature-length documentary film „DREAM BOAT“ (produced by Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion, in coproduction with ZDF, in association with ARTE, supported by FFA  – German Federal Filmboard, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, DFFF – German Federal Film Fund and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM)) had it’s world premiere at Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele and was released in cinemas in Europe and the USA. The film has screened at more than 40 international festivals worldwide and was internationally available on NETFLIX.

His 5-season documentary series „MAKE LOVE“ (Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion, ZDF/MDR/SWR) starring sexologist and best-selling author Ann-Marlene Henning, was nominated for the German TV Award and the Grimme Online Award. It was also made available on NETFLIX.

After his studies of photography and film he started his career as director, senior producer and Head of Factual Department at MTV Networks Europe. He directed numerous long-form documentaries and documentary series on leading pop artists like Madonna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Marilyn Manson, Rihanna, and others. Building up the Factual Department, he developed and was Head of all inhouse produced documentary broadcast formats of MTV Networks Germany/VIVA.

Moreover, he holds lectures regularly in the departments of documentary film, story development, and dramaturgy.

Tristan Ferland Milewski lives with his husband, their dog, and their two cats in Berlin (Germany).
